Merge Duplicate Client Information

SalonTouch Duplicate Client Merge Tool for Hosted .net Services

You can use the DuplicateClients (NET).exe to manually remove clients from the system.  It is located in the c:\SalonTouch\Tools\DuplicateClients (NET).exe on the local salon's PC.  It is also available from the Live connection in the SalonTouch Tools folder on the user's desktop. 

1. Open File Explorer.
   
   
2. Navigate to  c:\SalonTouch\Tools\.
   
   
3. Open the file DuplicateClients (NET).exe.
   
   
4. When you open it, it will ask you to connect to a database.  The local copy at the salon will look something like the image below.  Select computer's name will be first followed by the database instance name.  Normally will vary based on the salon's license number.  Often it will be in a format similar to [COMPUTERNAME]\E8R2_00000H01 with the 00000H01 being the salon's license number.
   
   
   
5. Click OK.
   

The will compile a list of all clients with the same first and last names.  It will not list clients with different last names after a name change.  It may also take time to load depending on the speed of the PC and the number of clients stored in the database.

You can search for duplicated clients by last name by clicking the Find button at the bottom of the window.

1. Click Merge Into for the client record you want to receive the information.
   
   
2. Click Merge on the client(s) that you want information to transfer from.  This will transfer sales data, packages, and other non-identifying data.
   
   
3. Click Save and the data will merge.
   

4. You can then continue on to the next duplicated client and continue the process.

SalonTouch Duplicate Client Merge Tool for Non-hosted Installations

The program for our non-hosted SalonTouch users (You have the software's database running locally and not on our servers) works the same as our hosted clients.  The file name is different, but 

1. Open File Explorer.
   
   
2. Navigate to  c:\SalonTouch\Tools\.
   
   
3. Open the file DuplicateClients (SQL).exe.
   
   
4. When you open it, it will ask you to connect to a database.  The local copy at the salon will look something like the image below.  Select computer's name will be first followed by the database instance name.  Normally this is SALONTOUCH
   
   
   
5. Click OK.

The database will query all clients with the same first and last names.  It will not see clients with different last names after a name change.  It may also take time to load depending on the speed of the PC and the number of clients stored in the database.

You can search for duplicated clients by last name by clicking the Find button at the bottom of the window.

1. Click Merge Into for the client record you want to receive the information.
