How do I Merge Duplicate Clients?

Modified on Fri, 26 May 2017 at 10:53 AM

After purchasing another salon's client list or merging your salons into a single hosted database so you can share clients between locations, you can end up with the same client multiple times.  SalonTouch has a way to identify duplicated clients based on the same First Name and Last Name.

  1. Open Windows Explorer by clicking on the File Explorer or Computer icon in the start menu.

  2. Navigate to c:\SalonTouch\Tools\

  3. Open one of these files:
  • DuplicateClients (NET).exe - This is for clients using our .net Hosted solution where multiple salons share data over the Internet.
  • DuplicateClients (SQL).exe - This is for clients with a single salon that is not connected to any other salons.
  1. When you open it, it will ask you to connect to a database. The local copy at the salon will look something like this:

  2. You can just click OK and the database will query all clients with the same first and last names. It may take quite a while depending on the speed of the PC.

  3. You can search for duplicated clients by last name by clicking the Find button at the bottom of the window.

  4. Click Merge Into for the client you want to receive the information from the duplicated client.

  5. Click Merge on the client(s) that you want data to transfer from. This will transfer sales data, packages, and other non-identifying data. Click Save and the data will merge.
