Setting up SMTP Email in SalonTouch Evolution

Modified on Tue, 21 Nov 2017 at 02:24 PM

It is advised to use an email address from your domain provider (website provider).  Free email providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, and others will not accept SMTP email to prevent spam senders from using them.  Paid services through them can use a SMTP relay service to send email out.  If you are using your own second level domain, the following can be used.

  1. Click Setup

  2. Click Salon Info

  3. You will need to get the information to fill out this page from your email provider.  In any case you will need  the SMTP server name, SMTP port number, and your email login and password.

  • SMTP Server: This is the sending email server. It is not related to SalonTouch, and we do not send the emails ourselves.

  • SMTP Port: This is the TCP port for SMTP. 25 is no security, 465 is SSL, and we do not support the TLS port.

  • Login: This is the email that will be used to send. If it is the client's personal email, all email will come from this email. It MUST match the email on the Salon Info tab or it will be flagged as spam by most email providers.

  • Password: This is the password for the email used. SalonTouch will not be responsible for changes to the password.

  • Server Requires SSL connection: If the server uses SSL connection check this and Use SSL connection method check boxes.
If you are unsure, use Server requires SSL connection and select use the SMTP method as backup (Direct Sender with SMTP Sender backup) check mark for the second option.
If no security is used, leave Server requires SSL connection unchecked and check Use SMTP method only. SalonTouch does not support TLS security. If their server uses it, SalonTouch will not send emails.

  1. Click Test and enter the client's email in the dialog box. If everything is entered correctly and their email provider will accept SMTP mail, they will receive the testing email.

  2. The Show Log button can be used to show delivery failure notifications from the email server you are connecting to or if there is any failure to connect.  If the email server is configured to not send back connection errors, SalonTouch will not write data to the log on a failed connection attempt.
